“Let him who wants to follow me deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” What does it mean to take up the cross? Does it mean to hang it on our chests? He says let him deny himself and take up his cross. The feast of the elevation of the Cross concerns everyone who is denying himself for the love of Christ. Therefore, I recognized our Deacon and our serving Altar Boys who are indeed denying themselves every Sunday, denying their fluffy bed, denying their comfort on the only day they could rest sleeping till mid-day! They get up because they know that if they do not come early enough, they would lose the privilege to serve the Altar of the Lord. I recognized their parents too who are also denying themselves the comfort of their homes on the only day of their rest, in order to bring their brave kids to church to serve the Lord and the Altar of the Lord. God bless our Deacon and our Altar Boys!
